Sex Differences In Augmentation Index In Response To Acute Dynamic Exercise

نویسندگان

چکیده

Augmentation index (AIx) is derived from pressures imposed on the left ventricle as a result of systolic peripheral wave reflection. Differences in AIx response to an acute stress, such exercise, may prove useful for predicting future cardiovascular risk younger adults, but less known about whether this differs between men and women. PURPOSE: To examine there are sex differences bout exercise healthy individuals. METHODS: Apparently recreationally active individuals (18-42 yrs old; 10 11 women) arrived at lab 12 hrs fasted. Baseline measurements were taken using cuff-based applanation tonometry dominant arm. Participants underwent four rounds dynamic body weight exercises. measures repeated 5-, 10-, 15-minutes post again 24-hrs exercise. All values normalized heart rate 75 bpm (AIx75). RESULTS: AIx75 was significantly higher women (5.9 ± 3.6%) compared (-3.9 2.6%) baseline (P = 0.04). Compared significant increase (13.6 3%; P < 0.001) (26.2 3.9%; 5-min with exhibiting greater 0.02). drop both 10-min (18.6 3.6%; 15-min (15 post-exercise However, remained elevated (16 3.4%; 0.33) (12 3.2%; 0.1). sexes not evident either 10- or 0.58 0.51, respectively). returned levels 24-hr visit 0.57 resting apparent (-5.5 3.5% vs. 7.2 women; 0.01). CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates induced increases AIx75. These findings suggest potential physiological structural that influencing arterial ventricular rest

Sex-Related Differences in Mood Responses to Acute Aerobic Exercise.

UNLABELLED Although some evidence supports stronger mood improvements in response to acute exercise among women, sex-related differences remain understudied. PURPOSE This study aimed to quantify and compare differences in baseline mood and the magnitude of mood responses to either acute aerobic exercise or quiet rest among young adult men and women. METHODS Fifty-three young adults (27 male...

sex differences in heat shock protein 72 expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells to acute exercise in the heat

background heat shock protein 72 (hsp72) is responsible for maintaining critical cellular function during heat stress. hsp72 confers thermotolerance and may play a role in heat acclimation. animal research suggests a difference between sexes in hsp72 expression in response to exercise, however, human data is lacking. conclusion our findings suggest that men and women differ in their cellular st...

Exercise and weight loss: no sex differences in body weight response to exercise.

There is a view that exercise is less effective for weight loss in women compared with men. This systematic review examines the evidence for sex-based differences in the effect of exercise on body weight. We hypothesize that, when energy expenditure is equivalent, there will be no evidence for sex differences in body weight response to exercise.

The Response of Skeletal Muscle-Expressed Neurotrophins to Acute Resistance Exercise in Male Wistar Rats

Background. BDNF and NT-4/5 have been proposed to be involved in the coordinated adaptations of the neuromuscular system to the elevated level of activity, but an activity-dependent expression of neurotrophins in skeletal muscle is not well established. Objectives. We, therefore, investigated the effect of one session of resistance exercise on mRNA expression of some neurotrophins in Slow and ...
